Here’s what to know about making the leap
Transitions, big leaps, rites of passage — call it what you will, there’s no denying that these huge milestones in our kids’ lives can feel both exciting and terrifying for everyone involved. Whether your child is moving from preschool to kindergarten, or to middle, high school, or adulthood, part of the IEP process will include transition IEP meetings to help ease your child into their new environment and set them up for a successful move to a new time in their life. This week, we’re exploring how to prep for your child’s big transitions — whether the next one is right around the corner or in 5 years.
Transitions can be challenging — moving to a new school (with no playground!), making new friends, switching classrooms, planning for college, transition IEPs?! — if you don’t have the right supports in place (and even if you do). Check out our articles full of tips on educational transitions that can help you prepare for your child’s transition meetings and make these leaps as painless as possible:

Calling all parents of kids with cerebral palsy!
Parents Amy Wan and Jonar de Guzman are creating change in honor of their little girl Sedona Wan de Guzman. They’ve created this short survey to assess the level of need among parents of kids with CP and how they feel in regard to expectations of child care, quality of life, and the future. They hope to bring this data to NICUs and are looking for 1000 responses! Complete the survey and be entered to win a $50 raffle prize. For more information check out their new and ever-growing non-profit Sedona Butterfly Effect here.
