Whether this is your first time packing your kid off to a new camp or you’ve lived through these particular anxieties before, finding the right fit can be a daunting task. To help make the process a little less scary, we’ve put together a guide outlining the top questions you should ask a camp to make sure your child will be supported; what camps are legally required to provide to children with disabilities (and what they’re not); and how to fund them.

Undivided’s Public Benefits Specialist, Lisa Concoff Kronbeck, has both personal and professional experience in the disability community. Her daughter Leah was born two months early with Down syndrome, esophageal atresia, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and congenital heart defects, and relies on a g-tube (feeding tube), Daniel Tiger cartoons, and Sesame Street for daily sustenance. Before Leah was born, Lisa was an advocate at a disability rights nonprofit, working primarily in the public benefits unit with services like Medi-Cal, In-Home Supportive Services, and Social Security Disability Insurance. Lisa also identifies as a person with disabilities. She shares her extensive knowledge of public benefits with Undivided families, providing parents with the tools, support, and knowledge they need to advocate for their children with disabilities.
