About the speakers

Iris Barker

Undivided Navigator and Independent Facilitator

Iris Barker is the proud mother of Kayla (8), Bryce (6), and Kaden (4). Kayla was born with Down syndrome, and Iris has been a strong advocate for children with disabilities ever since. She went through the Wrightslaw Special Ed Law and Advocacy Training Program, and regularly attends trainings and conferences about the IEP process, inclusion, and disability advocacy. She has also volunteered at Club 21 South Bay, a nonprofit organization that provides education and resources to promote the full inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Iris has served as an advocate for children of friends and family.

Karen Ford Cull

Undivided Content Specialist

Karen Ford Cull has three sons, aged 12 to 19. Her middle child, Magnus, has Down syndrome, and Karen has devoted her time to building a community of parents of children with Down syndrome in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. She is a co-founder of the South Bay Community Group of Club 21 Learning & Resource Center, and joined TASH to make an impact on systemic change in the special education system. She has been a CalTASH board member for four years. Karen is also part of the California Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Fellowship at USC's Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) as a Family Support Trainee.
