Leslie Lobel
Director of Health Plan Advocacy
Hi, I’m Leslie Lobel 👋
My younger daughter, Sarah, is 30. She was born with cerebral palsy, microcephaly, cortical blindness, and also has a newly identified genetic diagnosis of TBCD (one of eight currently identified in the world).
I spent the first 15 years of my career as a television producer and assistant director. After Sarah’s birth and the subsequent revelation of her profound special healthcare needs came a period of personal redirection. My family labored to create an intervention program for Sarah and to navigate the bureaucracy of insurance authorization and claim reimbursement. My production skills proved invaluable.
Experience:
For the next decade, I worked as the intake coordinator, scheduler, and insurance liaison for a Westside Los Angeles PT, OT, and speech therapy clinic. I spoke to thousands of families helping them to understand their health plan’s benefits, coverage and to obtain authorization and payment for the services we provided.
For the last 15 years, I have been a solo practitioner working with parents of children with disabilities providing assistance with the private insurance system to rectify billing issues, pursue claims payment, initiate medical pre-authorizations and appeals to overturn unjust denials.
Trainings/Certifications:
30 years of experience in the trenches with health plans.
Specialty:
Six years ago, I met and began consulting with the founders of Undivided. Once again working with a team of professionals broadening outreach and support to more families, including:
- Claims management
- Pre-authorizations
- Denials and appeals
- Health plan audits to promote understanding of coverage
