Common Binder Documents for Your First Preschool IEP
The following is a list of common documents you should gather and organize to bring to the IEP meeting:
Classwork samples:
For your first IEP, you might include data collected by your early intervention or child care program. For example, a photograph of letter strings they’ve written or other examples of prewriting skills, a video of them attempting to balance on one foot, or a video from speech therapy showing the sounds they’re working on.
These could also be anecdotal notes written by your child’s providers that present a picture of your child’s current capabilities.
Draft IEP if your case manager has provided a draft IEP or draft goals
Independent work samples you’ve collected (these would be similar to the classwork examples listed above, but collected in the home)
Parental concerns letter, if applicable
Reports from private therapists, doctors, etc.
Research you’ve collected about your child's diagnosis
Final progress reports from your child’s providers
