Parent Question

Can I be both my child's IHSS provider and personal assistant?

Published: Dec. 20, 2024

Yes, if your child has personal assistant services paid for by Regional Center, it is possible to be the parent provider for both that service and for your child's IHSS hours. However, Regional Center and IHSS will want to make sure there is no duplication of services, which depends on what care your child needs. For more information, you can ask your Regional Center service coordinator (or Independent Facilitator if your child is in the Self-Determination Program).
