Can I get IHSS paramedical services for a child under 5 years old?

Published: Jan. 10, 2025

Getting IHSS paramedical service hours for a child under 5 years old is not impossible, but it can be difficult, and IHSS cannot deny you based on age alone.

You need to prove that your child needs more care than what a typically developing child needs. Be sure to document everything. For example, have your PT and OT write out home plans. List hours going to and from appointments and how long you spend on therapies at home you do that require special training. Put mealtimes on the form if your child requires anything special, and have the doctor or feeding therapist document what's needed for your child to eat safely.
