Parent Question

Can I request a video recording of my child's schoolwork?

Published: Nov. 25, 2024

If you're following up on your child's IEP, you may decide to request video of your child in the classroom instead of coming in person to observe whether accommodations/modifications, services, and other parts of the IEP are being implemented. As long as your child is the only person in the video, this should be a reasonable request.

If you get pushback from the school or teacher about a video recording, you can make the request in writing. If the school still says no, you can ask to see the school's policy on video recordings. You may also want to ask for a PWN officially denying your request.
