Can I use Self-Determination Program (SDP) funds to pay for a 1:1 aide?

Some parents of kids in private school or homeschool wonder if they can pay for services like a 1:1 aide with Self-Determination Program (SDP) funds. Even if the child is not attending public school, services during school hours are seen as the school district's responsibility, and Regional Center will not pay because the parents choose to not utilize that generic resource. In general, Self-Determination Program funds cannot be used for any services during school hours on school days.
