Can Medi-Cal recipients on the HCBS-DD waiver get WPCS?
Published: May. 7, 2024
Waiver Personal Care Services (WPCS) hours are only available to individuals on the HCBA waiver, not the HCBS-DD waiver. However, Regional Centers offer "Personal Assistance" hours that are functionally similar to WPCS; they just each have their own purchase of service standards for who is eligible for those hours, and they are not as readily available, especially to children.
For more information about WPCS, see our article Home and Community Based Alternatives Waiver (HCBA) 101.
