Can my child get Regional Center or SDP services while out of state?

Some parents who are placing their child in residential placement outside of California wonder if they can still access Regional Center services.
Regional Centers are funded by California, and they do not transfer to another state. If the situation is temporary, it's possible to still access services, but otherwise services will be put on hold. A child can't use Regional Center services if they live most of the year outside California.
