Can Regional Center help pay for dental services like anesthesia?
If your child requires anesthesia for dental procedures, you may wonder whether Regional Center can help fund what insurance doesn't cover. According to Undivided Public Benefits Specialist Lisa Concoff Kronbeck, Regional Center will fight hard on this because private insurance (if applicable) and Medi-Cal are responsible for covering dental work. It will be very difficult for he Regional Center to add any wording in the IPP stating that they will cover. Coverage can be discussed after a service is denied, but even then they will look to exhaust all other resources before considering.
If your child has Medi-Cal coverage (based on income or through the waiver for Regional Center clients), you need to exhaust Medi-Cal resources first. Many hospitals that contract with Medi-Cal have dental clinics where they do sedated procedures.
