Parent Question

Can the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) help my child with ADHD?

Published: Dec. 13, 2024

The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) provides a variety of services for individuals with disabilities to help them find employment, including job training and education that leads to employment. The DOR can provide student services to high school students starting at age 16 like counseling and training. Once your child leaves high school, the DOR can assist with college or trade school tuition/supplies, internships, and other services to help your child find meaningful employment. Learn more in our full article How the Department of Rehab Can Help with the Transition to Adulthood.

Don't be turned away from the DOR because your child has ADHD. Non-attorney education advocate Lisa Carey says, "They do work with people with disabilities, and your child isn't not disabled enough or too disabled for their services."
