Parent Question

Do I need to update my child's IPP before transitioning to the Self-Determination Program?

Published: Oct. 31, 2024Updated: Oct. 31, 2024

It's important for your child's IPP to reflect their needs accurately, but you are not required to update the IPP before switching to the Self-Determination Program. According to Undivided's Self-Determination Consultant Iris Barker, the person-centered plan is more important when switching to SDP. You'll use the person-centered plan to talk about your child's up-to-date needs and develop your SDP budget and services.
