Transition from Early Start to preschool IEP
Early intervention services end at age 3, at which point your local school district will assume responsibility for providing services. Work with your Early Start service coordinator to make a smooth transition between early intervention and your first preschool IEP.
Why
Early Start ends on your child's third birthday, so planning for the transition will give the school district enough time to coordinate your child's first IEP assessments and get an IEP in place so there's no lapse in services.
Guides
Curated by our research team, signed off by experts and parents alike, guides walk you through the entire process, step-by-step. They cover common pitfalls and how to navigate complexities in order to accomplish your goal.
If your child has been receiving early intervention services from Regional Center or your SELPA, here’s what to expect once your child turns 3.
