How can I help my child manage their anxiety?
Published: Mar. 3, 2022Updated: Mar. 17, 2022
Many of our kids struggle with overwhelm, frustration, and behaviors during demanding times. Here are some strategies we can implement to support our kids as they weather challenges:
- Practice body scans, brain hacks, and targeted breathing to prevent the fight-or-flight response.
- Try different coping strategies: sit with your child’s feelings, and celebrate with them when they work through their anxiety.
- Practice working through our own frustrations out loud so they can learn from our mistakes.
For more details about how to practice these techniques, check out our article Dr. Lauren Stutman, Psy.D, on How to Ease our Kids’ Anxieties: Pt. 1.
