Published: Jul. 14, 2026Updated: Jul. 14, 2026
Here are some ways parents and school teams can support twice-exceptional (2e) students:
- Provide accommodations to support their disability, such as extra time on tests or assistive technology
- Offer progressive curriculum, meaning it can be made more challenging depending on their abilities
- Provide access to mental health services, such as a school counselor
- Request teacher training for supporting 2e kids
- Recognize their strengths and challenges
- Provide enrichment outside of school through extracurriculars and hobbies
- Teach self-advocacy skills so they can vocalize their support needs
- Help them build friendships with kids who have similar interests
