How can I track insurance claims?
Published: Dec. 4, 2025Updated: Apr. 17, 2026
Undivided Director of Health Plan Advocacy, Leslie Lobel, has these tips for making the most of your insurance. For monitoring your child’s in-network or out-of-network services, create a spreadsheet. When you submit a claim, put the date and amount for what you have submitted, with an area for the claim number when it is assigned. This is especially helpful for out-of-network services. It will help you keep track of what claims have been submitted. Have a column for how much you have paid, and it will help you know when you hit your deductible. Then, if possible, you can schedule big-ticket items to occur after you have met your out-of-pocket maximum or at least met the deductible.
