I have a new IHSS case worker. Where do I submit my documentation?
If your original social worker encouraged you to gather documentation to apply for Protective Supervision (PS), but you were then reassigned to multiple new workers in a short period of time, it can be confusing to know how to move forward. If you're unable to reach anyone by phone and aren't sure who to send your paperwork to, you may be wondering whether you can submit your PS documentation in person.
Undivided Public Benefits Specialist Lisa Concoff Kronbeck suggests making copies of everything you’re submitting, and including a recent letter from IHSS that has your child’s case or file number. Call your local IHSS office and ask to speak to a supervisor. You can also submit a ticket saying that you're not able to reach your worker on the phone and you need help from their supervisor. If you choose to bring it in person, ask the office if they can give you a timestamped receipt to confirm they received it. For the behavior log, be sure to include a note that the behaviors listed are just examples, using language like “including but not limited to.” This shows that supervision needs are ongoing and not limited to predictable events.
