We are devastated to see the impact of wildfires around the Los Angeles area and are working to help spread updates and resources to families in our community.

Evacuation and Emergency Shelter

Get alerts directly to your phone by signing up for local emergency alerts at listoscalifornia.org/alerts or LA County's emergency page. For evacuation shelters, see the information below:

Note that various services are available at evacuation shelters, even if you are not staying at one. You can look up evacuation status and nearby shelters based on your location using the Genasys Protect website.

If your home has lost power that you need for your child's life-sustaining equipment, contact the Disability Disaster Access & Resource Center for your county, which can help provide transportation, short-term housing, or backup power.

If you’ve evacuated and need to replace your medications, California officials have ordered all insurance providers in the state to suspend prescription refill limits and out-of-network restrictions for members affected by the fires who need to replace necessary medications.

Airbnb is also offering temporary housing to those impacted by the fires, so contact 211LA by dialing 2-1-1 to coordinate if you're in need. There may be a waitlist.

Disability-Specific Support

  • Special Needs Network (SNN): Families who need assistance with locating accessible evacuation centers, guidance on disability-specific emergency services, or coordination of resources to address disruptions in care and services can contact Special Needs Network at info@snnla.org.
  • NAPA: If your child has lost access to their DME such as a wheelchair, stander, walker, etc., fill out this form to request one.
  • Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH): For crisis counseling and support for individuals experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to any natural or human-caused disaster, please call 800-985-5990 (press “2” for Spanish).
  • Office of Access and Functional Needs (OAFN): This interactive map provides resources for individuals and families finding themselves in a natural disaster, emergency or crisis situation.
  • California State Council on Developmental Disabilities: The SCDD has compiled this PDF of resources related to meal and supply distribution hubs, transportation, mental health hotlines, and more.
  • Disability Rights California: DRC has a checklist of your family's rights and additional wildfire resources.

Other Support

If you are in need of supplies or other emergency resources, please share in Undivided’s private Facebook group for parents, where our Community Manager Donna is sharing updates and posting information from Regional Centers and other organizations providing aid. We will continue adding resources and information there.
