My child attends a small charter school without a trained specialist to support my child’s dyslexia. What should I do?

Published: Feb. 17, 2026Updated: Feb. 23, 2026

You should be able to push for the evidence-based support that your child needs. Ask what training the teacher(s) working with your child have in reading remediation. The school can train teachers how to teach in a certain methodology in order to make an impact on dyslexia. You could ask the school in writing if they’re willing to train your child’s teacher(s). If they're not willing, then you could try getting reimbursed for outside educational therapy.
