Parent Question

Should I call an IEP meeting if my child is not meeting their goals?

Published: Jan. 9, 2026Updated: Jan. 21, 2026

You have the right to call an IEP meeting at any point in the year. The school has 30 days to hold the meeting. Put the request in writing, and tell them what you want to discuss. Tell them who you want to have at the IEP, and tell them the goals are not being met. Have them go through the progress report. Ask what else can be done to ensure the goals are being met.
