Should I switch my child from the Medi-Cal waiver if they are eligible for SSI?

Individuals who are eligible for SSI can automatically be eligible for Medi-Cal coverage. If your child already receives Medi-Cal via the HCBS-DD waiver or the HCBA waiver, should you switch to Medi-Cal eligibility based on their SSI?
Transition Consultant Joanna Kent advises that even if your child receives SSI, keeping them on the Medi-Cal waiver allows them to continue access home and community-based supports.
