What are the timelines for Regional Center to respond to me?
If your Regional Center is taking a long time to respond to you, you might wonder how long is too long. Depending on your request, there are certain timelines that Regional Center must follow.
If you’re applying for Regional Center services for the first time, the Regional Center must respond within 15 days of your application. Assessments need to be done within 120 days of your application, and the IPP must be complete within 60 days of the assessments. (This timeline is accelerated if your child is under age 3.)
If you request an IPP meeting, Regional Center must hold it within 30 days. If not everything can be resolved in one meeting, the next one must be held within 15 days.
If the Regional Center wants to reduce or change your child's services, they need to provide a written Notice of Action within 30 days. If you disagree, you need to appeal within 30 days of receiving the NOA.
