In addition to public benefits programs like Regional Center, Medi-Cal, and California Children's Services, families raising kids with disabilities may also be eligible for certain utility discount programs.

California’s energy companies offer a Medical Baseline program for people with disabilities who require additional allocations of electricity or natural gas due to their medical conditions. California utilities also offer discounted energy rates for families who have lower household incomes or participate in certain public assistance programs, including Medi-Cal.

There are also discounts available for certain internet providers, phone service, national parks, and other programs. For full details on who is eligible and how to apply, check out our article Utility Discounts in California for People with Disabilities.
