Parent Question

What college expenses will the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) pay for?

Published: Jul. 11, 2025Updated: Dec. 1, 2025

The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) exists to help individuals with disabilities prepare for, find, and maintain employment. Part of that can include paying for education that leads to employment. The DOR can pay for community college, a trade school, or a four-year college as long as the degree is for a job.

The DOR won't pay for room and board for college students who are living locally to the school they are attending. However, the DOR can pay for books, specialized tools, or clothing for classes that will lead to employment.
