What do I do about delays in the Self-Determination Program?
If you're experiencing delays in the transition to the Self-Determination Program or during your annual SDP renewal, it can affect your child's services. For example, if your FMS is not able to access e-billing, you may not be able to schedule respite or other necessary services.
Iris Barker, Undivided's Self-Determination Consultant, recommends that you find out who is at the top of the top at your Regional Center, such as the executive director and supervisor in charge of the SDP unit. It should be on the Regional Center's website. Let them know how the delay is affecting you. They should be able to create authorizations so that they reflect in e-billing. You can also call Regional Center and ask for your service coordinator's supervisor. There may be an administrative reason for the delay, such as if the Regional Center's accounting might not have put in your FMS to access e-billing.
If there are still delays, you can file a complaint.
