What do I do if my child's teacher is not providing 504 Plan accommodations?
Published: Oct. 21, 2024
Whether a student's accommodations are written in a 504 Plan or an IEP, teachers have to allow them. If your child's teacher is not providing accommodations, you should set up a meeting with the school's 504 Plan coordinator, the teacher, and potentially a school administrator.
It might be as simple as your child's teacher not knowing what their accommodations are. Make sure the teachers have an accommodations list, and help your child understand what accommodations they have so that they know to ask for them as needed. You can learn more information in our article What to Do If Teachers Aren’t Implementing IEP Accommodations as many of the same tips apply to 504 Plans.
