What does the Undivided Research Team do?
The Research Team helps create Undivided’s knowledge hub for California disability resources. Lead Researcher Adriana Roze says, “You can think of us kind of as a library. And we’re your librarians.”
The Research Team curates information about social-recreational classes, camps, schools, and providers. One of the team’s annual projects is Undivided’s big updated guide of camps that support families of kids with disabilities. Many Undivided families have kids with different needs, even within the same family, so this annual roundup of summer camps is meant to help make the search for summer programming easier.
The Research Team also has information on private schools that support kids with disabilities in the Southern California area. There are two separate lists, one for private schools and one for non-public schools (NPS). The team also has resources on homeschool resources like charters.
If you want to go deeper, you can pay for a private report where the Research Team would get more specific information for your family. The Researchers are not educational advocates, so the team can supply you with information and data, but giving you a recommendation of the right placement is more of an educational advocate's role. Adriana Roze says, “We're definitely here to help you in these other ways, and if you need more, reach out, and we're happy to help you.”
If you're seeking a provider, the Research Team can help you find someone with the specialty that you're looking for. Undivided members have access to generalized lists of providers in certain areas, or if you're in need of a more focused search, you can pay for a private report that is specific to your family. Adriana Roze says, “There's a lot we can do for you. If we don't have the information, we're in the habit of sleuthing it out. We love researching, and we love making reports for people.”
For general information, you can do searches in the Resources part of the Undivided app, such as to find summer camps. For lists of programs, schools, providers, and specialists, you’ll need to ask your Navigator for access. You can also attend office hours to ask a Navigator if the Research Team has a list of a provider or region you’re looking for.
