What if Medi-Cal stops covering my child's medication?
Published: Jan. 14, 2026Updated: Jan. 21, 2026
If you receive notification from your insurance that Medi-Cal doesn't cover one of your medications, you might be worried that you'll have to pay a co-pay or cover it completely out of pocket.
If the medication was previously covered, you could call your insurance plan's member services and file a grievance. Make sure they know the issue is Medi-Cal not covering it.
To learn more about filing a grievance, see our article on Medi-Cal appeals.
