What if the school keeps delaying my IEP meeting?

Published: May. 19, 2026Updated: May. 19, 2026

In many states, schools have timelines they must follow for holding IEP meetings. If you are facing repeated delays across months, it's possible that your child is not getting the supports and services they need, leading to learning loss, especially if this is your first IEP. Reach out to your team to push for a meeting as soon as possible, and mention that if your child is not getting the supports and services they need, you will be requesting compensatory services.
