What if the school tells me that something I've requested is “against policy”?

If your IEP team tells you that it’s “against policy” for the school to grant a request you've made, ask to see the policy. You should also give a specific deadline so that you can hold the team accountable. If this statement is made during an IEP meeting, you can ask that your request to see the policy and the deadline be added to the notes section so that it's easy to follow up.
