Parent Question

What is a Non-Public School (NPS)?

Published: Mar. 14, 2022Updated: Dec. 18, 2024

An NPS is a specialized private school that is contracted by a public school and certified to provide special education services for students with disabilities. For students who require more support than what a general education setting can offer, non-public schools aim to provide specialized assistance as a last resort.

There are no general education students on campus. All specialists are in-house and readily available to support students. Some NPS accept students on a private-pay basis, and some accept district funding through the IEP process, or a mixture of both.
