What is the maximum number of hours I can work as an IHSS provider?
If you serve as your child's IHSS parent provider, your maximum weekly hours is your child's total monthly hours divided by four (for approximately four weeks in a month). The most a parent provider can ever claim in a week (with IHSS and WPCS combined) is 70:45 hours unless they have an exemption for overtime. If a provider has more than one client, the maximum is 66 hours per week per client.
Technically, the maximum hours you can claim in one day is 24 hours. However, IHSS will also expect you to sleep, and IHSS should not overlap with times when your child is at school or you are using respite hours, so it's not recommended that you claim 24 hours in a day on your timesheet. The most important figure to remember is your weekly maximum.
