If you're preparing for an upcoming IEP meeting or otherwise working with the school on services and supports for your child, an education advocate can provide support throughout the process. Learn more about what special education advocates do and how their services compare with attorneys in this article.
If you are an Undivided member, you can set up a free 15-minute consultation with an Undivided education advocate. Undivided members also have access to regular office hours Q&As with education advocates where they can ask questions directly and get answers over Zoom.
For more help from an advocate, including participation in the IEP meeting itself, you may want to hire their services. Some organizations provide IEP support for low or no cost. If you're an Undivided member in California, ask a Navigator for a general list of vetted advocates put together by our research team. You can also check out this list of free or low-cost advocates in California.
Another resource for California families is your Regional Center, which can help with education advocacy. You can also reach out to Disability Rights California to see if they are able to offer free or low-cost help. Most states have a disability rights organization if you are not a California resident.
