Why is Universal Design for Learning (UDL) important?

Dr. Caitlin Solone, special education advocate and faculty at UCLA, says that Universal Design for Learning (UDL) makes students feel comfortable, welcome, and valued, along with their peers. For example, a student seated next to their aide and away from peers at a separate desk in the back of the classroom does not consider inclusion of all students.
