Will Medi-Cal cover a stroller for my child?
If your child is older and has outgrown traditional options for strollers, you may be able to access funding for a bigger stroller through your health insurance. Private insurance and Medi-Cal may pay for an adaptive stroller or travel wheelchair depending on your child's diagnosis.
If you're an Undivided member, ask your Navigator for Undivided's research report on adaptive strollers, which are suitable for older children. Many jogging strollers can work depending on the child's needs.
If your child is a Regional Center client in the Self-Determination Program, using SDP funds may be easier than trying to get it covered through insurance. Undivided parents recommend choosing a stroller that can grow with your child, as some have upper weight limits.
