Will my child get their IEP related services in ESY?
Published: Dec. 5, 2025Updated: Dec. 5, 2025
If your child receives occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, or other related services as part of their IEP, they should also receive those services during extended school year (ESY). Usually, they will not receive as many minutes during ESY as during the school year. ESY minutes should be listed in the IEP under services.
Keep in mind that not every child with an IEP will qualify for ESY; the decision is made by the IEP team.
