Will Regional Center fund a tutor for my child?
Published: Sep. 11, 2025Updated: Jun. 10, 2026
Before agreeing to fund school services, Regional Center will want to see a denial from the school district. You can ask in the IEP meeting for tutoring, and if the school denies providing it, ask them to put their denial in the IEP notes or prior written notice.
Take that written denial to the Regional Center and ask for tutoring or funding for an educational therapist. You can ask your service coordinator if your Regional Center has a list of tutoring companies it vendors with.
Note that tutoring is typically easier to add as a service if your child is in the Self-Determination Program, usually as executive functioning support.
