Are respite providers allowed to overlap with at-home ABA sessions?
Published: Oct. 28, 2024
If you have both a respite provider and an in-home ABA provider, you may wonder if you can use both services at the same time, for example to leave the house to run errands.
Public Benefits Specialist Lisa Concoff Kronbeck says, "ABA is explicitly not respite, so the respite person can be the responsible adult who is at home while the ABA provider is there."
Note that this applies to traditional Regional Center services; you can do it with Self-Determination, but there is more paperwork involved.
