How can I get my child a 1:1 aide at their private school?
Published: Nov. 19, 2024
A 1:1 aide can often be added to a child's IEP if the IEP team determines that the aide is necessary to help them access their education and/or for their health and safety at school.
However, private schools are not obligated to provide the supports in a child's IEP. One option that works for some families is to obtain ABA therapy services (typically through insurance) and then use the ABA professional as a 1:1 aide during school time.
