If my child doesn't qualify for Regional Center, can they still get Medi-Cal?
Published: Mar. 6, 2025
Medi-Cal is separate from Regional Center. Even if your child is not a Regional Center client, you may qualify for Medi-Cal based on your income or possibly through having a child with a disability. Let Medi-Cal know about the disability when applying, and you will likely have a greater share of costs. If you qualify with share of cost, you could still have access to no-cost Medi-Cal later if your child gets accepted as a Regional Center client and then can apply for the waiver.
