Parent Question

Will Regional Center reimburse me for therapy costs between application and my first IPP meeting?

Published: Jul. 18, 2025Updated: Aug. 9, 2025

Regional Center can help cover therapy costs for clients, so you may wonder whether Regional Center will reimburse you for therapy costs in the time period between your child's application being approved and your first IPP meeting or the authorization of services.

Undivided Public Benefits Specialist Lisa Concoff Kronbeck says, "Not typically. Regional Center doesn’t do compensatory benefits like school districts do, and doesn’t usually do retroactive pay." If the services your child needs are urgent, you could ask for a shorter period before the IPP meeting to get services authorized.
